This post is going to be mostly a "How-to" of sorts. Gives you an idea on how I write my patterns, included materials needed, and what to set you up for next. I'll link Section 1 to the bottom of this post.
Materials
- Mandala (four cakes)
- H/5 mm hook
- scissors
- needle to weave in ends
Notes
How to read my patterns:
- If the number is before the stitch (2dc) the number indicates how many stitches into the same stitch.
- If the number is after the stitch ( dc 2) The number is how many consecutive stitches you’ll make.
- Stitch counts are at the end of the round in (sides/corner) format.
- Starting chains never count as your first stitch.
- Each round ends with a sl-st to the first stitch, not the chains.
- Multiples are referenced for the starts of each section. Mostly a multiple of three. A multiple of 3 is any number that can be divided by 3. Examples are 3, 6, 9, 12, 30, 33, 36, and so on. If all else fails, just count 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 until you get to the desired location.
- For directions that say a multiple of (3 + 1) you’d find your multiple (or count) and add 1 number. It is not the same as multiples of 4. For more help reach out out in the group.
Notes about Ellie Roo
- Pattern is broken up into four sections, designed to be used as a part of a Crochet-a-long (CAL). If you’d like to host your own CAL message me on any social media to set up a unique coupon code for your group.
- Pattern is written for a two color combo. Color A (a) and color B (b). For other color variations please check out my facebook group.
- Passive yarn is held in the back of the work. Pull a long loop, or use a stitch marker to keep work from frogging.
- Round 6 you leave ch-4 stitches unworked.
- Round 10 you can swap out edc for tc.
- (dc 2, ch-1, sk-1) repeats rounds are a little different than others. Pay attention to the corners
- Bean stitch rounds can be done two ways. How the pattern is written- (Bean, ch-1) around. This would mean you’d have the chain at the end of the bean stitch (as per the stitch directions), and then a second chain. You’d then skip a chain when working the next round. If you find your work is too wavy, remove the second chain and work sc into each chain for the next round.
